Louise Gold

Role: Bikeboost Officer

Aim: To get commuters on bicycles, clear the traffic, and make hundreds of people healthier and happier

About Louise: Louise has played harmonica with Katrina and the Waves.

Cycling background: Originally from London, Louise has worked for Pedal Ready, Sheffield's cycle training organisation, for over a year and has had to ride in all sorts of weather conditions, so is a great expert on how to stay dry and comfortable! She began working for Pedal Ready because of the sense of freedom and happiness which cycling cycling gave her.

Aim: To help people overcome the barriers that have stopped them from enjoying cycling in recent years

Aim: To encourage businesses to reduce their traffic and transport impact, reduce congestion, improve air quality, and support the working population to get fitter.

About Paul: Paul is a man of Kent. He has lived in Sheffield for nine years and, having lived all over the country, Sheffield feels like home. He has one wife, one son and one dog. The dog is a keen cyclist and accompanies Paul on some of his rides. Paul drew up the first recording contract for Brotherhood of Man.

Cycling background: Paul started cycling regularly about nine years ago in relatively flat Southampton. He now cycles the three miles to work everyday come rain or shine, or ice or snow, or heat-wave.

Favourite cycling area near Sheffield: Above Bradfield and over to Broomhead Reservoir.

Favourite cycling destination worldwide: Across the white cliffs of Dover

Favourite thing about living in Sheffield: It's a great city with the Peak District as its back garden and its central location mean that other big urban areas are a hop and a skip away. Being from the South I love the friendly nature of the city.

Cycling tip: Go at your own pace and don't worry if you have to get off on some of the bigger hills because one day you'll make it!

Duncan McCann

Role: BikeBoost Operations Manager

Aim: To roll out BikeBoost to every major city in the UK.

About Duncan: Duncan started out BMXing in the late 80's and then progressed onto Mountain Bikes In the early 90's. Working in his local shop he became a fully trained mechanic, building some of the first DH race bikes available from scratch. As MTB grew the Downhill scene grew with it and Duncan quickly became hooked on the adrenaline sport. After a good result in his first race (a NAMBS) he decided that it was racing that he wanted to do. Riding for a number of teams throughout the 90's he ended up as team manager for Marin/Team Chevin and competed in the UK national points and national championships. With all the riders finishing in the top half of the standings, Team Chevin played hard and was always the most chilled fun team to be around. After the team disbanded in the late 90's Duncan turned his career to selling and designing bikes and worked for some of the biggest cycle companies in Europe.

Favourite cycling area near Sheffield: Wharncliffe woods nr Grenoside.

avourite cycling destination worldwide: This is a hard question for me as I have been lucky enough to ride all over the world! I will go with Les Gets in the French Alps.

Favourite thing about living in Yorkshire: Some of the most fantastic trails in the world and good pies!

Cycling tip: Always take an inner tube with you!
